King's Gambit Tall Bearded Iris Rhizome | White & Purple Amoena

Some irises whisper. King's Gambit makes an opening move and never looks back. Its standards rise pure and cloud-white, while below, wide, plush falls unfurl in a purple so dark and velvety it reads almost regal, lightening gently at the edges, as if the color itself were catching its breath. Up to nine blooms per stem keep the display going round after round, each one carrying a soft, intoxicating fragrance into the garden air.

This is a flower with real pedigree behind it. Fifty years of breeding stand between today's crisp white-over-purple contrast and the muddier amoenas of decades past, and you can see every year of that patience in the clean, dramatic lines of this bloom.
