Rhizomes are shipped dormant or semi-dormant depending on the season. Foliage may be trimmed before shipping. This is completely normal and allows the plant to direct its energy toward establishing new roots after planting.

Planting Your Iris

Choose a location receiving at least 6 hours of direct sunlight each day.

Plant in fertile, well-draining soil with the upper portion of the rhizome sitting at or slightly above the soil surface. Bearded iris rhizomes should not be planted deeply.

Space approximately 12–18 inches apart to provide good airflow and room for the plants to multiply.

Water thoroughly after planting. Once established, allow the soil to begin drying between waterings and avoid consistently wet conditions around the rhizome.
